Groupe Tiru

Background
GROUPE TIRU has been a major player in the recycling industry since 1995. Using European expertise, it has developed and adapted its industrial sorting activities to meet the ever-increasing volume of recyclable waste generated by the city of Montreal and its surroundings.

Since the year 2000, the highly experienced TIRU team has modernised the Montreal Sorting Center. It now provides the largest processing capacity in Quebec, and is one of the three most important in Canada.

Main Activities
The collection, sorting and marketing of recyclable waste are GROUPE TIRU'S main activities. A specially-adapted fleet of trucks and three sorting centers in the Montreal area ensure high quality service for residential communities and commercial enterprises alike.

Demonstrated here is the processing of residential and commercial recyclable waste using state-of-the-art equipment in a modern facility.

The sorting center presented here is our largest capacity facility. It currently processes an amazing 100 000 tons/year and has the ability to absorb a great deal more.

Featured technology
GROUPE TIRU specializes in "results-oriented" technology.

The primary objective is for each facility to operate to maximum productivity according to a wide variety of parameters (quality of recyclable waste, weather, willingness of citizens to participate, personnel qualifications, etc.)

Our second objective is to sort the recyclable waste with constant attention to available markets in order to maximize recuperation.

The third objective is to ship recyclable materials to recycling plants with no intermediate storage. Most recyclable waste collected in the day is processed overnight and shipped to the recycling plant the following day, saving time, energy and money.

Finally, GROUPE TIRU is constantly locating new markets and expanding usage of recyclable materials.

Distinctions
In a short time, GROUPE TIRU has become the industry standard both in terms of technology and strict adherence to labour law. It also acts as consultant to numerous organizations in the public and private sectors.

Several company officers are board members of government organizations and businesses, which is why the company consistently maintains its position at the forefront of industrial knowledge linked to long term industry development.

Clients
As of January 31, 2004, GROUPE TIRU services over 55 municipalities, including Montreal and Laval.

In addition, over 10 RCMs or municipalities consult GROUPE TIRU for their expertise and technical assistance.

Potential applications
GROUPE TIRU's high standard of technology and processes make them equally applicable to all municipalities whether for residential or industrial requirements. In addition they adapt easily to various volumes and suit different municipal situations – urban or rural.
