Solmax-Texel
Géosynthétiques Inc.
Background
The public is very concerned about protecting
the environment; as a result, decisionmakers have to design
maximum-security waste management sites and highly efficient
containment tanks. Geosynthetic products installed by experts
are vital to achieving this objective; they are the optimal
solution for soil sealing.
Solmax-Texel, a combination of two world-renowned
manufacturers of geosynthetic products — Solmax International
and Texel — has been offering its expertise since 1993.
Solmax International
has been manufacturing and installing geomembrane products worldwide
for over 20 years.
Texel has
acquired over 30 years’ expertise in highly differentiated
and specialized geotextiles.
Thanks to its founders’ know-how and extensive experience,
Solmax-Texel offers a comprehensive range of geosynthetic products
and services that comply with the strictest standards in effect
within the civil engineering and environmental industry.
Main Activities
Solmax-Texel’s solid expertise in all stages of the production,
assembly and installation processes, as well as its international
experience, have earned the company a position among the leaders
in the geosynthetics industry.
Geomembranes are used to minimize the hydraulic conductivity
of permeable soil. They are used primarily in aeration tanks
for wastewaters, landfills for domestic, hazardous or industrial
wastes, storage areas for industrial wastes, secondary containment
tanks and temporary or permanent cover sheets.

Installing the unalterable
The rapid growth of the use of geosynthetic products (geomembranes,
geotextiles, synthetic drainage grids and bentonitic geocomposites)
is a direct result of the advantages they offer over traditional
solutions. These products are manufactured under strict quality-control
conditions; they are readily available; they can be installed
easily and quickly; they complement natural materials and are
chemically compatible with the environment – these are
some of the elements that help reduce the overall cost of projects
and improve the quality of projects.
Geosynthetics have high chemical and mechanical resistance levels;
they also resist ultraviolet rays, punctures and tears.
Vast numbers of soil surfaces in various parts of the world
are covered by geomembranes installed by Solmax as part of environmental
projects. Each square metre of geomembrane (polyethylene, polyvinyl
chloride, polypropylene and bentonitic geocomposites) is installed
with extreme care, thereby demonstrating Solmax-Texel’s
expertise and know-how.

Clients
Through its comprehensive range of multi-use products and services,
Solmax-Texel provides engineering consulting firms, municipalities,
private, public and para-public organizations, as well as the
construction industry in general, with optimal and original
solutions for the design and implementation of civil engineering,
geotechnical and environmental engineering projects.
Solmax-Texel has a professional and competent team that will
work with the designer and contractor throughout the entire
project. The company’s involvement starts from the very
beginning – the design stage – and continues until
the project is completed, thereby ensuring that the strictest
quality and environmental safety standards are respected.
